Weaving Classes
Weaving classes are held over 8 consecutive Saturdays. Eileen MacNeil is the Instructor. Each class begins with 1 1/2 to 2 hrs of theory while the rest of the time is spent weaving. Theory covered includes:

Weaving by Eileen MacNeil, the lead teacher.Fiber: classes usually begin with a study of one of the natural fibers. Some of these are done by members in the classes, for example, one of the members raises Angora Goats which produce Mohair while another raises Alpaca and llama, so this makes for lots of interesting hands on learning.- Cloth: this is basically a show-and-tell where people bring in woven pieces they have done. The cloth is handled and analyzed and hopefully ideas are generated.
- Equipment: beginners start by learning the different types of warping equipment (warping board, mill). They learn the different types of looms and the names for all the parts of the loom, etc.
- Weave structure: here students learn about different weave structures and how to read and make a draft and a draw down.
Beginners will start by weaving a twill sampler and then a twill project. After they finish these they will move on to an overshot sampler and project. More accomplished weavers move on to projects of their choice.
