Scotsville School of Crafts

The Scotsville School of Crafts is owned and managed by The Lake Ainslie Weavers and Craft Guild.

The School has three large class rooms. One of these rooms houses the Lake Ainslie and Area CAP Site (Community Access Project). This puts a lot of equipment (computers, Internet access, printers, scanner, photo copier, slide projector and screen, TV and VCR, book binder, zip drive, CD rewriter, fax, laminator, etc.) at the disposal of the Guild and instructors teaching there.

A second classroom is used for classes and workshops that are organized in the spring and fall. During the summer a Gift Shop featuring Cape Breton hand crafts is housed in this room.

The third and biggest classroom is used for weaving. It is equipped with (4 and 8 shaft) Jack and Counterbalance floor looms, table looms, warping mills, and all the necessary equipment for weaving. The School has a well stocked library of weaving books as well as current issues of Handwoven magazines etc. Weaving software is installed on the computers.
