Highland Village Tour

On a picture perfect day, October 14th, 2003 some of us attended a textile workshop at the Highland Village in Iona. Beryl, Dianne, Gayle, B.J. and Jay were joined by four members of the South Haven guild and guests from Ottawa and Maryland. As our tour progressed through the village we learned about the textiles, clothing and the implements to produce them, as appropriate to the time period of the building. The village spans the history of over 100 years. Some of us tried our hand at spinning. There was a demonstration of turning flax into linen. In every building textiles from the archives were available for our inspection. At the end we had tea and oatcakes. Thanks to Vickie and her staff for a wonderful day!
